According to information received from Spectrum technical support, business emails ending with @tampabay.rr.com will be discontinued. Customers are being encouraged to change email service providers. Residential users are going to be continued, for now.

We are forced to recommend users upgrade directly to Microsoft Office 365. There is no direct migration path, but contact Landshark IT if you need help with this. We are migrating many customers over the coming weeks.

Once we receive an exact date of when Spectrum plans to axe Roadrunner email, we will update this article.

Update 6/6/19: Unknown end date. They are discontinuing by region. Landshark IT is still actively migrating customers. Please contact us as soon as possible if you are affected.

What You Need to Do

If your business uses a @tampabay.rr.com email address, you should act now rather than waiting for the cutoff:

  • Set up a new business email address with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace
  • Update your email address with all clients, vendors, and online accounts
  • Set up a forward from your Roadrunner address to your new one (while it still works)
  • Update your business cards, website, and any marketing materials

Why Microsoft 365?

Microsoft 365 Business Basic starts at $6/user/month and includes a professional @yourdomain.com email address, 50GB mailbox, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and web versions of Office apps. Unlike a carrier-assigned email, you own your domain and can keep the address regardless of which internet provider you use.

Landshark IT is handling Microsoft 365 migrations for affected Tampa Bay customers. Contact us to schedule your migration — we handle the entire process including email history import and setup on all your devices.
